Scheduling Requirements - The Good Ole Days Are Gone!
The days of presenting a decent schedule in Primavera are gone. Now Schedulers are looking at 8-12 pages of scheduling requirements, with many of the requirements integrated into the Primary Baseline, to be further expanded in the Final Baseline or Target Schedule.
Jim Varnado from Global PM will be presenting on modern day scheduling. Schedules have been a part of proposals and estimates for years, with the representation of work presented in a spreadsheet, MS Project, Primavera or other graphic means. For the most part, a schedule was expected as part of the bid package, but was often not used at all or at the least, underused. Over the last five years I have noticed that Owners, whether they be from a large EPC firm, the Federal, State or Local Government or General Contractors are more well versed in the fundamentals of scheduling. I like to say that owners are getting more sophisticated in terms of scheduling requirements and the demands on schedule compliance is getting more complex and inflexible; the penalty of non compliance can often be severe.
Special Rate for Students (with valid student ID).
For those with PMI certification, 1.5 PDUs will be awarded for meeting attendance

Jim Varnado is a long time member of the PMI Greater New Orleans Chapter, having served as President in 2011. Jim was the second PMP in Louisiana, right behind Carlos Zervigon who was number one. Jim has been involved in scheduling all of his career, starting out in paper mills where he used a home made plexi-glass board with colored card stock to represent activities with duration and logic. For over thirty years Jim has served as a Project Manager and/or Scheduler in the construction, utility, petro-chem, shipbuilding and IT industries. Jim has worked with Primavera since the early days and now teaches Primavera P6 to students all over the country. Jim is the owner of Global Project Management, LLC where they specialize in Project Management PMP Certification training and are a Primavera Gold Partner, providing PPM and EPPM Primavera sales, training, consulting and implementation services.
