From Management to Leadership; Ladder to Success

Mrs. Sherri LeBas Firnberg, PE, will share her thoughts on different types of leadership styles, her observations during her career, and what style worked for her as she progressed up the ladder at LA DOTD. In addition, Mrs. LeBas Firnberg will discuss accomplishments to Louisiana’s transportation system and the need for further investment to our transportation system for economic growth and quality of life. 

As always - guests, students and teachers are welcome!

For those with PMI certification, 1.5 PDUs will be awarded for meeting attendance.

Speaker: Sherri LeBas Firnberg

Sherri LeBas Firnberg is Vice President of Business Development for G.E.C., Inc. and she is a licensed professional engineer in both civil and environmental engineering in the Baton Rouge office of Gulf Engineers and Consultants (G.E.C., Inc.), an engineering firm specializing in transportation, environmental, planning, coastal, and infrastructure development with a client base consisting of public- and private-sector organizations across the U.S.

Prior to joining G.E.C., Inc. in May of 2016, Mrs. LeBas Firnberg served as the Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for 6 years from February 2010 until January 2016. As LA DOTD Secretary, she was responsible for more than a $1.6 billion annual operating and capital budget and worked closely with federal, regional and local officials to ensure the citizens and businesses of Louisiana had the best infrastructure possible. Prior to being appointed the Secretary, Ms. LeBas served as Deputy Secretary, Assistant to the Secretary for Policy, Change Management Facilitator, Project Manager and a Design Engineer in the Road Design Section. Ms. LeBas Firnberg devoted 30 years in state service in Louisiana prior to retiring from the state and moving to the private sector, working at DOTD as well as the Division of Administration. She holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Louisiana State University and was inducted into the LSU Civil and Environmental Engineering Hall of Distinction in 2011. She also received the ASCE Outstanding Civil Engineer Award in 2016, the L.E.S. Charles M. Kerr Public Relations Award in 2016, the L.E.S A.B. Paterson Award for an Engineer in Management in 2014 and the Secretary’s award for excellence twice at LA DOTD.

Mr. LeBas Firnberg is married to William Firnberg and through their blended family have four sons and a daughter in law
